..........our fair Isle has been having it's own miniature heat wave over the past week. It's been long overdue as I can't remember anything more than perhaps one sunny day last year. For us Britons high pressure generally means high spirits, and the sun has brought with it a new creative breeze. Matt has spent hours tirelessly working away in the studio in his boxers, I have sat aboard the cross country train penning words like a man possessed. The result is that we now have a huge amount of material stored up on the computer, all bursting to get free.
I'd say some of it is without doubt the best music we have written to date, our sound keeps developing, the themes we have worked on vocally continue in the next record. This is down to how refreshing the atmosphere is within Young Runaways, we're not 'pushing for a deal' or 'trying to create a buzz' we're just literally writing music, better music and more of it than ever. We can't change how many people listen to us, but we can learn to make more beatiful sounds and write lyrics that really mean something in their own time and space. Young Runaways has become more of a way of life for us than just being our band, you are also part of what happens here, we hope that whatever it is that you take something from what you hear.
God Bless,
Graham & Young Runaways
Good evening one and all.
Hope you're all well and enjoying life. Us Young Runaways are doing good but it's getting bizay, really bizay.
Firstly please head over to the main page and enjoy our latest recording, a number called 'Pray For Me' which came flying out of the mastering studio earlier today. This was originally going to be a track on the upcoming record, an EP which may or may not be called 'Steeple To The Backyard', but we get impatient so we do and thought you should all hear it as soon as possible. Love it.
On the subject of the new record we have only vocals, woodblocks, toy glockenspiels, finger clicks, hand claps and bell peels to do and its going to be upon us all. And what a day that will be. In normal terms thats about 2 weeks work with mixing and mastering so we are on it.
Next thing is our first gig in Birmingham for quite sometime will be held at the Flapper And Firkin, and we are very much looking forward to it. Expect some new songs and some new hair cuts. Tickets for this are available and cheapest to buy from us right here. You will soon see a web link to an online ticket office on our myspace and thats where you get em.
Saturday saw me and Gray perform an impromptu gig at a great little pub near us called The Royal Oak in Tettenhall for our nearest and dearest. A 7 song set list that included the aformentioned Pray For Me and a rousing rendition of Hey Jude amongst others was warmly received by all. Some mobile phone footage exists and we are currently trying to locate it.
Our Glastonbury slot on the Leftfield stage is confirmed. We are on Friday night 18:15 - 18:45. If you re on the farm for the weekend or otherwise come and join us after dinner. WOW!
And of course lets all wish James Thomas Round a very very Happy Birthday for today the 28th of April. He's swanned off to Rome cos he likes the film Gladiator and his lovely Mrs is big into art. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY J BONEZ.
Thats all for now. Im off into a booth to do some singing.
LOVE
Matthew Ian Pinfield.
Young Runaways
Hey all,
Here are the results of our latest studio exploits, Pray For Me, a bit of a country twist to it. Wrote it a while back after a conversation I had with Mother. Have you ever felt like things are going too well, that you don't deserve half of the things that come your way? I can be an ungrateful sod at times and this song sort of reflects that! Hope you like it.
Other than writing and recording we've had a few gig offers come our way, the lovely people at Platform in Birmingham have booked us to play the Flapper and Firkin on May 30th. Tickets are £4, there are four great bands and it'll be a good shindig! Buy tickets through the link at the bottom of the post!
Our man Big Phil celebrated his 23rd in style with a keenly contested round of pub golf in Wolves!! Videos and pics to follow!

Hi,
It's been a while since we updated our profile, we've been very busy too! Young Runaways made it through to the final 12 of the Glastonbury 2008 New Talent Competition, we travelled down to Pilton to play infront of a panel made up of Michael & Emily Eavis, Huw Stevens, Paul Rees and many more. After a few days we got a call saying that we'd been offered a set on the Left Field Stage!! Poom! We're made up and can't wait to get down there and play!
There have also been a few switch up's within the band, Lucy has joined to play violin, keyboards and vocals and Paul has returned to help us out with drums. Here are two new tunes that we've finished recently, The Hometown Slowdown' and 'Ropeswings'.
P.S we also got a stonker of a review over in Dubai where Rich Round has been repping us, it's on our Myspace page go have a look!
I've probably mentioned this already so please forgive me if I have, we've been working harder than a group of POW's over the Chrismas period and have got six new songs to learn this month. They're each at various stages of being recorded in our Granny Flat studio, I'm really excited to get them finished. There's a couple that are more poppy and two that are slightly abstract, we used a ukelele & a cricket trophy in one of them! I'm going up to get some vocals recorded this weekend, I'll post the tracks as soon as they're mixed.
Obviously due to the amount of songs we've got to learn January is a non-starter for shows, we've been rehearsing to be ready for our next show on February 10th with Das Pop at the Gardening Club in Covent Garden. If you've never listened to Das Pop I suggest you do, they're off on tour with the Hoosiers the day after we play with them. I'm not keen on the Hoosiers, I find it a little too plastic, but Das Pop are bostin! Please do come and watch if you're in London, the event is called Jealous of the Daylight, it starts at 3pm and finishes at 7pm, there's also Magic and Stand-Up.
We've been looking for someone to manage us for a few weeks, so if you like what you hear and you know anyone in band management then feel free to recommend us!!
Cheers,
Gray
